10 Happy Things for September
/HAPPY SEPTEMBER!
So excited for back to school, fire pits, and and cooler weather! What about everyone else?
10 HAPPY THINGS
As always, this list is pretty random, but hopefully something on it will bring you joy!
1. Some of the best photos from the Olympic games.
Also, what would you look like if you wore all of your clothes at once? (Does this remind anyone else of the Friends episode?)
-------
2. I cannot stop eating this super easy salad. And this pasta.
-------
3. These DC candles just get better and better. Also, trying to figure out where to hang one of these prints.
------
4. A new Reading, Watching, Listening post is up on my blog!!
Also, are these the best 100 books of the 21st century? (Not sure I agree with a lot of the pics, but #1 is my favorite book of all time).
-------
5. I finally blogged our summer travel adventures - (1) The whole family's week in Amsterdam: (2) My trip with Parker to South Africa - Cape Town & Safari in Kruger National Park; (3) Ending the summer at Acadia National Park and dropping Freya off for her first year at college.
-------
6. How beautiful are these murals? And these collages?
------
7. Looking for things to do this fall? There are some great kid (and adult) live entertainment options coming to town and here's a list of 10 fun fall things to do in the area.
-------
8. Should we think of our children as strangers?
"To be a good parent — arguably, to even become a parent — you need to exercise your power. But that power is always slipping through your fingers, undermined by the unpredictability of life, your children’s resistance and liveliness, and the passage of time . . . A person’s life can never be fully explained, justified, or contained — not your child’s, and not your own."
-------
9. I basically lived in this sweater this summer (granted, we visited a lot of colder places). It's so comfy and soft (and cheap)!
-------
10. Several new families, engagements, and weddings are up on my blog. Click here to check them out. Esp. the cake photo!!

Darcy was an absolute pleasure to work with and we LOVE our photos. She truly captured the emotions of the day and the essence of all the people we love the most. Any time i look at our photos, i find myself involuntarily smiling. She captured the classic posed photos AND the precious in-between moments where people are being their most authentic selves (the face my dad makes when he's really intently listening, the hand gestures my mom uses when she's explaining something and can't find the right words, the face my mother in law makes when she's cracking herself up, the face my father in law makes right before the tears fall, and so so many more). Not ONLY are her photos amazing, but she made us feel so relaxed on the day-of. Her style is totally unobtrusive, which is just what we needed. Darcy got such amazing photos of all our guests we put 4x6" prints in our thank you cards and people were SO appreciative. She's on fridges across America. Comments we've gotten in response to Darcy's photos: "WOW your photographer is phenomenal", "this is the best photo of us in existence", "you guys look so happy!", "I feel like the photographer really captured your personalities" If capturing joy is important to you, hire Darcy. My only regret is getting her for 7 hours instead of 9. - Matt N

We cannot recommend Darcy enough! We loved working with her! Darcy does an incredible job of making us feel comfortable and she has a laid back approach to capturing beautiful photos. She really understood our vision for our wedding day and did an excellent job capturing the joy, emotion, and fun we had on our day. We also wanted to make sure to feel fully present at our wedding and we did not want to feel that we were doing a photoshoot. She was really quick in getting family photos and sunset photos done so we could enjoy the festivities. She was quick to turn around a video of the highlights and then all of the photos. We are so happy with our engagement photos and the photos from our wedding day! - Deborah

The photos Darcy took of our family made me tear up. We absolutely love them. These will help us look back on these days and remember everything. She captured it so well. Also, Darcy is an absolute delight and so easy to be around! Our one year old loved her. Very talented, too. - Erica
