10 Happy Things for February
/HAPPY FEBRUARY!
Anyone who has been following Arlington news probably knows that my zipcode (22204) is having a really hard (and scary) week, especially my kids' local high school, Wakefield. So I'm trying my best to concentrate on the positive and hoping the rest of the month brings some peace.
On another note, lately I've photographed several former wedding clients' growing families and I CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW HAPPY THIS MAKES ME. Two and a half years ago, Alexis & Vai had an incredible "big day" (you can see photos here) and documenting their growing family fills me with joy.
10 HAPPY THINGS
As always, this list is pretty random, but hopefully something on it will bring you joy!
-------
1. Virginia Woolf's Idea of Privacy - I love this article.
-------
2. Currently Reading. Watching. Listening (he narrates it himself).
Also, What are your meet-in-the-middle shows? The White Lotus and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are our easy watches. And, as a family, we can binge Shark Tank for hours - lots of opinions, very little controversy.
-------
3. I finally blogged our family's trip to London in December, click here to see some photos (and stories).
------
4. Strategic starters for a dinner party (such good, easy advice).
-------
5. Anyone else excited for this? I read the book and feel like it will work even better as a show.
-------
6. Sometimes it's hard to know when to stop taking photos - when to put the camera down because it's making someone uncomfortable or because I want to stop observing the moment and start enjoying the moment. And then I see something like this and realize, even with all the photos I take, I wish I had taken even more. So. many. more.
-------
7. I also recently blogged some recent wedding, engagement, and family sessions. Click here to check it all out (if you're considering hiring me as a photographer I HIGHLY RECOMMEND perusing my work first).
Also, if you're looking for a wedding venue, I recently put together a list (with links and photos) of some of my faves.
-------
8. Roasted veggie salads for winter.
-------
9. I bought myself this book for my birthday and now I can't stop planning.
------
10. I love all of these great ideas and activities around the DC area for celebrating Valentine's Day with kids.
-------

RECENT REVIEWS
As cliched as it sounds, reviews mean the world to small businesses like mine - so THANK YOU again to everyone who wrote one!!

Darcy is AMAZING! From scheduling, to the shoot, to providing the photos - our entire experience was beyond expectations. She found the best spots in downtown Alexandria and was wonderful with my 5-year-old, not to mention flexible when we had to reschedule due to illness. . . . Thank you, Darcy!! - Emily

My husband and I were terrified of the entire "photography" part of our engagement and wedding -- neither of us love have our picture taken and we were so afraid of ending up with a bunch of forced, staged wedding photos. Darcy is the complete opposite of our fears -- she managed to capture the most natural and beautiful pictures of us just being ourselves (and make us look great in the process). She is a joy to work with, makes it all so easy, and someone we loved to have at our wedding :) Cannot recommend more. - Megan

It could not have been more perfect. Darcy was magical as our photographer for our DC wedding. She expertly managed our family and friend photos and was able to capture our special day. We worked with Darcy for our engagement photos and were blown away, so we knew the wedding photos were going to be special.
Darcy was so kind, professional, and wonderful to work with during the day of our wedding. She was able to snap amazing photos of the first looks, the ceremony, and other special moments throughout the day. Working with Darcy was a pleasure and I cannot wait for our paths to cross again in the future as we will need couples photos and hopefully family photos! - Lili
