10. Whenever I meet with couples I always like to hear how they met, so this short story really resonated with me (excerpted below).
"The Youths were at a dinner party (another fortieth, weren’t they all?) hosted by the parents of one of their children’s friends from school. The talk turned to how each couple had met, and when their turn came, they smiled at each other and into their drinks. She, chin propped on fist, said, ‘At work,’ but he, expansive from the wine, said, ‘Well—yes but,’ and the others clamoured to hear more. They tried their best to describe it: the preamble, the silent drama—the magic, really, that had compelled them together. They spoke over each other, amending and rephrasing, but they soon gave up, sensing that it did not translate, and anyway no one else really cared: ‘at work’ would have sufficed after all. It didn’t matter. It had happened, and there, better and worse, they were—shoulder to shoulder, knee to knee, hand in hand at the table."

UPDATE ON TURNAROUND TIMES
As many of you already know, my mom is currently hospitalized in Chicago. I'm an only child and trying to figure out her care from 700 miles away has been difficult.
Further, because so many weddings from the two last year rescheduled to this autumn I'm having my busiest season ever. Rest assured I am working as hard as I can (literally), but editing takes time. I haven't missed a deadline yet and plan to keep it that way.
If you are curious about turnaround times and you are a family client please contact me. If you are a wedding client this information is in your contract.

We cannot say enough amazing things about Darcy. Not only were our photographs beautiful, working with her from the moment we first set up a meeting with her was amazing. She's warm, friendly and professional all at once. She was also understanding as we went from big wedding to small wedding and cancelled and uncancelled our date.
On the day of our wedding, she took charge and put us in the right spots and helped us through the awkwardness of posing for photos. Our families also thought she was wonderful to work with and we all absolutely love the photos. Truly, I know I'm gushing but I can't recommend her enough.

We absolutely love our engagement photos. We were a little camera shy at first but Darcy was very patient and put us at ease. She replies very promptly to emails, makes the entire process clear, and really takes time to get to know her clients. We even had to reschedule our shoot at the last minute and she fit us right back into her calendar immediately. We can not wait for Darcy to photograph our wedding. She is a great photographer and just a truly nice person to be around. - Andrea

We are so glad we hired Darcy to photograph our wedding! Because of covid, we didn’t meet her in person until our wedding day but she was very responsive, reassuring, and friendly by email and phone and immediately put us at ease and made us feel comfortable the day of. She captured all the best moments from our wedding and the pictures convey how much fun we had.
