10 Happy Things for October

HAPPY OCTOBER!
Yay fall!! I cannot wait for firepits, warm blankets, and kids in their Halloween costumes.
And, on a separate note, how cute is baby C with his grandmother on the National Mall?
10 HAPPY THINGS
As always, this list is pretty random, but hopefully something will make you smile.

1. At the end of August I spent a weekend in Folly Beach/Charleston, SC with two of my best friends and now I'm obsessed with candles and body care products from this local company. On a similar note, these cocktails were AMAZING.

2. 23 wonderful short books (ie "some of the most entertaining and mind-opening stories, novellas, essays, and short treatises from the recent past") The Reluctant Fundamentalist is one of my faves.
I also just finished this book, so much to talk about.

3. Yay Patagonia!!!

4. There are three new super cute in-home family sessions up on my blog (if you're on the fence about a family session in your own hopefully these will convince you to go for it).

5. I can never get enough of Julie Blackmon's photos of children (which she describes as "everyday moments in my everyday life that I've told in a fantastical way"). The NY Times recently profiled Julie and her daughter (who is a film-maker). And Julie's new book, Midwest Materials, was just published.

6. So. many. fall. festivals!

9. I'm already dreaming up vacations for the next few summers - how wonderful does this CO family backpacking trip sound?
And if you fly into Denver you could also visit the new Meow Wolf (we went to the one in Santa Fe a few years ago and loved it).
