More Snapshots from our Michigan Vacation (August 2020)

When all else fails, take a vacation.

I thought I’d share a few more photos from our Michigan trip.

Before we backpacked in Pictured Rocks (click here to read about that), we spent a few nights in a cottage off Higgins Lake - where we rented a boat, swam, and relaxed. The cottage had a beautiful back deck that was perfect for reading books and practicing yoga.

After the backpacking trip, we drove down to Mackinac Island and spent a few very lazy days there. The island was much more crowded than anticipated, so, other than riding bikes with the girls, while Dan and Trout went on a fishing charter, we mostly kept to our hotel, which had a huge deck overlooking the lake and over-the-top old-school decorations (sort of like stepping back in time).

Luckily, by this point in the vacation the kids were exhausted and just wanted to play on their phones anyways. The hotel has a dress code after 6 pm and even though I made fun of it, we all sort of enjoyed dressing up (well, except for Trout, he hated it), especially after 4 days of backpacking.
