Snapshots of our December (Arlington, VA)
/“I was dreamin’ when I wrote this, so sue me if I go too fast
But life is just a party and parties weren’t meant to last
War is all around us, my mind says prepare to fight
So if I gotta die I’m gonna listen to my body tonight”
Does anyone else hear 2019 and feel ancient? After spending my childhood dancing to Prince’s 1999 and wondering how crazy that party would be (sidenote - it wasn’t that crazy), it’s odd to think how long ago that all was. And by the way, have you ever read the lyrics of 1999? - pretty depressing stuff.
On a different note, December was a pretty mellow month for us. No big travel (except for a quick trip to Richmond to visit Dan’s parents). Lots of lazy days. An easy-going Christmas with Dan’s family. A super fun, yet not too crazy NYE with our favorite neighborhood friends (see some of the dance party pics below).
We made it to the Hirshhorn to see Rafael Lozano - Hemmer’s Pulse (so cool!!) before the government shutdown closed most of the museums. Some friends and I saw Second City’s She the People at Woolly Mammoth and I loved it so much that I took our whole family to see it the next weekend.
. . . .so the years/months/days fly by. “Everybody's got a bomb, we could all die any day, oh. But before I let that happen, I'll dance my life away.” (Wise wisdom my friends. Wise words).
